From my office in Orem, Utah, I represent individuals and businesses throughout the state of Utah, as well as California, Idaho and Wyoming. I concentrate on legal matters that require a combination of legal skills and business acumen, and I take seriously my role as business counselor and legal adviser. Clients who retain my services appreciate my realistic approach to their problems, and I am known in the business community for giving honest advice and a range of options to resolve a particular problem.
I invite you to contact my office today to consult on:
- Business formation questions
- Assistance with a business dispute
- Contract negotiation, drafting and enforcement
- Advice on how to protect personal assets
- Drafting an estate plan to protect personal or business assets
- Writing a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) as part of a divorce proceeding
- A complaint of workplace discrimination, illegal harassment or unpaid wages.
Business Formation and Contract Disputes
Small businesses need the same legal advice and assistance as large companies, but often believe they cannot afford it. At reasonable rates, I serve as a substitute for "in-house counsel": a knowledgeable professional from whom to get advice on business formation and disputes, as well as assistance with drafting, negotiating and enforcing contracts. I maintain long-term relationships with my business clients, helping them grow their businesses, protect their profits and minimize losses.
Asset Protection and Privacy
If you own one or more businesses, own several pieces of real estate, or have other assets that need protecting, you know that you should be cautious when entering into a new business venture. You want to minimize the risk that your existing assets will be vulnerable if the new business experiences financial or legal difficulties. I have years of experience as an attorney developing asset protection plans for wealthy individuals.
Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs)
A Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) is required in any divorce proceeding where the benefits of a pension or other retirement plan are split between the actual beneficiary and the beneficiary's spouse. QDROs are technical and detailed documents and require an experienced lawyer to draft them accurately and efficiently. I have a strong reputation among Utah divorce attorneys and mediators as a "go-to attorney" when a QDRO is needed.
Workers' Rights and Employment Law
If you suspect illegal discrimination or sexual harassment, or if your employer has failed to pay you properly for work you have performed, you may have a valid legal claim against your employer. On workers' rights matters, many employees do not contact an attorney until after they have been fired or otherwise treated illegally. In my experience, I am much more likely to get a positive result for clients who contact me while they are still employed but suspect that wrongdoing has occurred.
